In the morning we’ll cruise to Vis Island, where we are expected to come after lunch, with a swim stop en route. Vis is a pearl among Croatian Adriatic islands, as it was left untouched by the development of tourism for many years. Due to its strategic location on the open sea, Vis served as a military zone from the times of Ancient Greeks to the 20th century. What seemed a setback then became an advantage today, as this island’s nature remained practically untouched. Beautiful beaches, pristine nature, ecological agriculture and preserved traditional architecture are the unique advantages of this unique Croatian island where we will spend a relaxed afternoon and evening.
Overnight in Vis Town, (B, L)
DAY 7 • FRIDAY • VIS – BIŠEVO BLUE CAVE – SPLIT
Our morning cruise now takes us to Biševo Island, with its Blue Cave. This spectacular cave is definitely one of the top natural attractions in Croatia. Blue Cave has its own natural entrance located below sea level. This natural phenomenon creates a magical effect of deep blue and shiny silver, mystifying its visitors. However, sometimes High Waves prevent the entrance to Blue Cave, which is something we shall not know before the morning designated for our visit. If that happens, we can provide an alternative half-day tour of Vis Island with its historical WWII RAF Airport, along with Komiža – a peculiarly beautiful town boasting the longest fishing tradition on South Adriatic. After a relaxed afternoon cruise, we’ll arrive in Split, the second largest urban center in Croatia and the seat of the Split and Dalmatia County. Both ancient and modern, this bustling Mediterranean center is over 1,700 years old. Since 1979 the historic center of Split has been inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage Site List. The most attractive historical and cultural buildings are located inside the walls of the Roman Emperor Diocletian’s Palace, in the city’s very heart. Our English speaking guide will do the Split City tour, and walk you through the historic Diocletian’s Palace.
Overnight in Split, (B, L)
